Being Deliberate About Building Trust

I recently facilitated 12 x two-hour Trust Talks for an organisation who is intentionally building a stronger culture through increased trust and psychological safety.

Over 180 employees – everyone was invited to attend – came together to explore the three pillars of TRUST:

  • Consistent Action – Being reliable and following through on commitments
  • Open Communication – Sharing information openly
  • Mutual Respect – Showing kindness, support and empathy

The big takeaway from the sessions?  Everyone plays a part in building and maintaining trust.  It’s an everyday choice to be more open, connected and collaborative and once you learn what’s at stake, such as camping out in the Anxiety Zone or the Apathy Zone, it becomes a no brainer to build trust.

An even bigger benefit for individuals, teams and the wider organisation is that when employees feel trusted, they are more likely to contribute ideas, work better together, and help the team succeed.
