Brené Brown, Simon Sinek and Adam Grant! What a line up!
I was not about to walk past this crew sharing their thoughts on the current leadership context, quiet quitting and setting boundaries. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d been so excited to press pause on the busyness that had consumed me since the end of July and press PLAY on a great conversation.
Here are some highlights I took from the two-part ‘What’s Happening at Work’ series. I won’t give away too much as I recommend you take the time to stop, listen and gather your own insights.
Part One
- Leaders are resisting remote and hybrid work
- Leaders are trying to find the answers in the chaos
- Good leaders are recognising that people are not ok
- Vulnerability is required from leaders – say how you feel.
- You get the behaviour you reward
- If your system allows toxic behaviour and performance, your system is broken
- You are not a High Performer if you don’t make other people better
- High Performing Teams put the team interest first
Part Two
- ‘Quiet Quitting’
- A new term for an old experience previously known as disengagement
- Doesn’t bring relief to the people doing it
- A stress management strategy for those who lacked a sense of control and were dissatisfied
- What is engagement?
- Attention and absorption
- Energy and vigour
- Enthusiasm and vitality
- Doing high quality work
