Keen to raise your awareness?

Keen to raise your awareness?  Here are three things you can do over the weekend to give you more insight on YOU!

ONE: Ask a friend/ partner/ parent/ sibling these two questions: What do you see as my strengths? When have you seen me at my best? (ask for an example)

TWO: Journal the old fashioned way by using a pen, paper and a prompt.  Here are a couple to get you started:

  • Things that excite me are…. Things that annoy me are…
  • I am curious to learn more about….
  • The five people I admire most and why are….
  • An idea I have currently it… I love it because…
  • Three things I’m proud of are…

THREE: Draw your lifeline.  Start by choosing a period in your life and think about experiences and events during this time.  Mark a dot for each event along the lifeline indicating if it was a highlight or a lowlight in your life. Draw a line connecting the dots to create a visual overview of your highs and lows. Then ask yourself:

  • When did I feel really happy or really proud?  What made it such a positive time and what did I learn about myself?
  • When was I most challenged?  What made this a low point and how did I respond? What advice would I give myself if this happened again?

There’s no downside to becoming more self-aware.  I especially love Tasha Eurich’s perspective: “…when we see ourselves clearly, we are more confident and more creative.  We make sounder decisions, build stronger relationships and communicate more effectvely.  We’re less likely to lie, cheat and steal.  We are better workers who get more promotions. And we’re more effective leaders with more satisfied employees and more profitable companies.”

Happy weekend everyone!
