My R&R Plan

It’s come to the end of the weirdest year in my lifetime and I’m certainly ready for a break – I know we all need a break! My plans for the summer holiday are low-key and local with an aim to return to work full of vim and vigour and ready for an exciting year ahead.

Here are five things I plan to do over the next few weeks:

  • READ- Reading is my most favourite and accessible hobby. How good is finding a good spot on the couch with a book you can’t put down? Looking at the summaries of the four works of fiction I’ve chosen for the break, I’ll be traveling to Ireland, Italy, England and the USA.
  • REFLECT- Lots has happened in 2020. Some of it was sad, painful and heavy. Some of it was exciting, challenging, fun and insightful. I’m going to take some time to bank some learnings and also bring out the confetti cannon on a few things I want to celebrate.
  • RELAX – It takes me a few days to bring the tempo right down. Being deliberate about not loading too much into everyday will be so worth it. Lots of swimming and walking will help too.
  • RECONNECT- Spending time with my husband and kids between friends visiting and holiday work for the kids will be bliss. One year from now one of my chicks is leaving the nest so I intend to ensure we are ready for that!
  • RESET – I’ve got a few intention setting practices I like to practice early in the New Year. As a big fan of James Clear’s Atomic Habits, my intentions will focus on good habits done regularly. More on this in the next edition!

Have a fantastic summer break! Come back safe, topped up with Vitamin D, refreshed and recharged and ready for a great year ahead.
