Putting Myself in the Growth Zone

Last Friday afternoon I found myself verklempt.

Remember the Saturday Night Live sketch from the 1990s? The hostess of the fictional Coffee Talk show, Linda Richman, often found herself so awestruck and overcome with emotion that she was lost for words.

That’s exactly how I felt on Friday afternoon having wrapped up my participation in the three-day Brain-Based Conversations coaching programme with the NeuroLeadership Institute.

It had been a long time – too long- since my last formal, workshop-based development opportunity. I needed a top up of learning and time in the Growth Zone. I got it and so much more.

Here are some of my highlights:

👯‍♂️ The People – 14 fantastic, curious, open participants from various parts of Australia from Rockhampton to Adelaide to Perth plus me! As a beautiful bonus, there was another Colombian in the group (Hola Paula!)

👩‍🏫 The Facilitator – Engaging, insightful, caring, fun… the list goes on and on! As a facilitator, I can be a terrible participant however Kendra brought out the best in me and the group.

📚 The Content – The Neuroleadership Institute provided awesome resources, tools and frameworks. Understanding more about how the brain works is going to help me with me and you.

💪 The Practice- There’s no time for fake, made up role plays, people. We were practicing on real dilemmas and topics in real time with real coaches (ourselves!). I have moved the dial on a couple of key challenges thanks to being in the hot seat.

Investing in my skills as a facilitator and coach is the best decision I’ve made this year. I’m so excited to continue to put into practice what I’ve learned and continue to spend time in the Growth Zone.
