Tomato Time!

Sometimes our biggest leadership challenges are right under our own roofs.

Getting my teens motivated to study for NCEA exams after 11 (or is it 12?) weeks of lockdown weirdness is proving to be a huge challenge. On Sunday, I’m putting myself in the arena in front of my harshest critics to introduce them to the Pomodoro technique.

The Pomodoro Technique is a great way for everyone under your roof – including YOU! – to have focused, uninterrupted work/study time with the reward of a break every 25 minutes and loads of ticks on the to-do list. Check out below a great ‘sketchplanation’ by Francesco Cirillo and if you want to go deeper then check out this article written by a convert for more information on what it is and how it works.  I’ve been using the recommended app regularly!

I can expect eye rolling, loud sighing, and perhaps some unsavoury (body) language however I will not be deterred! I just want an hour of their time for one tool that could set them up for success during exam season and beyond. I will be armed with lollies and monetary incentives if need be!

Wish me luck!
